  Project Economic Benefits

As a world-class destination resort, the Project will bring hundreds of millions of dollars of new revenues annually into the area, creating the financial engine to revitalize the economy of West Contra Costa County, and the ability to support numerous social, environmental, and community programs. Direct ferry and transit linkages to San Francisco will allow Point Molate to be on the short list of regional and international tourist destinations for travelers. Independent studies show economic benefits of the Project include the following:

  • Strong tourism influence introduces hundreds of millions of new money into local economy
  • Project operation brings more than $500 million per year in new wages to Contra Costa County and surrounding area
  • Economic engine supports enhanced on-site remediation and ecological restoration, and long-term regional environmental and social programs
  • Historic economic stimulus for local businesses and workers
  • More than $20 million annual revenue stream for the City of Richmond plus additional amounts for community programs
  • Taxes on wages and supplies create extraordinary revenues for local, state, and federal governments
